After having the car running properly for about a week i was on my way to college on the june the 16th and had stopped in traffic with my handbrake up when some DIV (being extremely polite) failed to see that i had stopped and ploughed straight into the back of me with such a force it pushed me into the vehicle infront and it also broke the ratchet mechinism on the drivers seat, this impact resulted in my car ending up as a Cat C write off... Bad times :(

Here you can see the state of the car, from the off side it doesnt look too bad but when you look again you can notice the difference in ride height between the font and the back of the car, the back is significantly higher than the front, this is due to the force that the car drove into me. | Here is another rear view shot, as you can see again, the back is significantly higher than the front, the rear lights are smashed and the boot is missing, this is because when I was hit the other vehicle managed to snap both boot hinges and whe i eventually got the boot open (some muppet locked the boot... me) it was just hanging on with only 1 boot holder thing so i simply unscrewed the boot stay and put it iin the car. |

In this image you can see the extent of the rear damage more clearly, the whole rear valance, boot floor, rear seat and door pockets were all buckled, I couldnt get the spare wheel out of the boot because the car had bent around it but if I didnt have a spare wheel in the car I think the damage would have been much much worse. if you look further towards the front of the car you can see the door is not shut, this is not becuase I left it open this is because this is as shut as I could get it, this proves the force of the whole impact has bent the whole car becuase if it was all ok the door would have shut | Here you can see the extent of the front end damage, as you can see the door shut has disappeared for starters there is a lovely big crease in the rear quater, front nearside weld all bent and buckled, so much force it has split the weld which welds the wing onto the front pannel. The whole front end is caved in and it has bent the bonnet quite badly and broke all th bars under the bonnet used to strenghen it, also i could not actuallg get the bonnet open so after some gentle persuasion (hammer) i managed to get it open to find that the starter motor was cracked and the distributer cap was in about 6 pieces. This would explain the non starting issue but it didnt have any electrics going to it at all as nothing worked. |
also on the road side i tried to start her but with no luck, i couldnt get the bonnet open to see why it would not start but after some gentle persuasion (hammer and screwdriver) i eventually got it open to inspect the engine bay, i found out that the distributor cap was in atleast 5 pieces just being held on to the car with the ht leads, so then i tried to put my hazards on so that other cars would see that i was not moving etc but the car had no electrics at all, on later inspection the main battery lead goes to the starter solenoid and this was cracked and i then checked to see if the starter worked and this was totally dead too so that explains the no electrics issue
